Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has added artificial intelligence (AI) to its missile systems to make them more accurate, the group’s leader announced on Sunday.
“With AI, we can hit targets precisely while avoiding harm to innocent people,” said Hossein Salami, the IRGC’s commander-in-chief. He spoke during an event honoring Iranian medical staff who treated Hezbollah members injured in the September 2024 pager attacks.
The Israeli operation targeted devices like pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria. It caused 32 deaths and left over 3,250 people injured.
Salami called these pager attacks a type of “weapon of mass destruction” meant to destroy morale and cause disorder.
Last year, Iran directly attacked Israel for the first time, firing hundreds of missiles, rockets, and drones at the country.
