The Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) is the only Department of Defense site testing a new AI-powered security tool called Scylla. This tool helps detect intruders, weapons, and unusual behavior in real time using cameras and drones.
For the past eight months, BGAD has tested Scylla to improve their security. Unlike normal surveillance systems, Scylla doesn’t just record what happens. It can detect threats and alert security staff before things get worse.
During a test, Scylla spotted an “intruder” with a gun from a camera a mile away. It also zoomed in on the suspect from a closer camera. Recently, BGAD gave a demonstration of how Scylla works to officials and security experts, showing how quickly the system can identify and alert security to dangers, like people carrying weapons or breaching fences.
Scylla is designed to work with current security cameras, making them “smart” without needing new equipment. It’s not just for military use; it could also be useful in schools and other places needing extra security.
