Apple’s Siri AI Upgrade Delayed Until 2025: Report

Rate this post

Apple’s much-anticipated Siri upgrade with new artificial intelligence won’t be available until 2025, even for developers.

What Happened:

Recent iOS 18 betas have introduced new features, but the big AI updates, including the major Siri upgrade, are missing. Leaks before the WWDC showed some of the new Siri features, which were confirmed during the event. The improvements aim to make Siri understand context more like a human.

However, even with the new iPhones coming out in September, users will have to wait longer to see the smarter Siri, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Developer beta users of iOS 18 won’t get the new Siri this year either. Siri features are expected to enter beta testing for developers in January and be publicly available around spring with the iOS 18.4 upgrade. Other features, like a new design and ChatGPT integration, will arrive later this year.

Why It Matters:

The delay comes after high expectations. Gene Munster from Deepwater Asset Management said the integration of ChatGPT would be the biggest upgrade in Siri’s 13-year history. Apple is integrating AI into its core apps for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, using both its own models and OpenAI’s technology. Many of these AI features need at least the iPhone 15 Pro with the A17 Pro chipset.

In June, Apple announced its partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 Sequoia as part of its broader AI strategy, including AI writing summaries across its systems.
