Netflix is trying out a new AI-powered search tool that helps people find shows and movies based on how they feel.
This tool was made with the help of OpenAI. Instead of just typing in a movie name or actor, users can search using simple language like “funny shows for a lazy Sunday” or “dramas with strong female leads.”
Right now, this feature is only available for some iPhone users in Australia and New Zealand, and they have to choose to try it. Netflix plans to test it in more countries, including the U.S., soon.
This new tool is part of Netflix’s bigger push to use AI to make the viewing experience better. They already use AI to suggest shows and movies to users.
However, Netflix says it won’t use AI to replace writers, actors, or filmmakers. The company says it values creative people and wants them to stay at the heart of making content.
