Snapchat has introduced its first-ever AI-powered video Lenses. These Lenses use Snap’s own generative AI model and are available for Snapchat Platinum subscribers, which costs $15.99 per month.
Snapchat has been a leader in AR and is now focusing on AI to stay ahead of competitors like Instagram and TikTok. The company first announced its AI video technology last September and has now improved it to launch these new Lenses.
At launch, Snapchat offers three AI Video Lenses:
- Raccoon and Fox – Add animated furry animals to your video.
- Spring Flowers – Creates a zoom-out effect showing the person holding a flower bouquet.
Users can access these Lenses through the Lens carousel and create AI-powered Snaps using their front or back camera. The generated video will automatically save to Memories.
Snapchat plans to add more AI Video Lenses every week. The company believes AI Lenses will improve user experience by offering unique features not found on other platforms.
Recently, Snapchat also introduced an AI text-to-image tool for mobile devices. By developing its own AI models, Snap aims to provide high-quality AI tools at a lower cost.
