YouTube now has a new AI tool that helps creators make free background music for their videos, according to TechCrunch. This tool can create instrumental tracks that don’t have copyright issues.

YouTube showed how it works in a video on its Creator Insider channel. In the video, the host Lauren introduces a new tab in the Creator Music beta called “Music assistant.” You can type in a prompt like “uplifting and motivational music for a workout,” and the tool will create several music tracks for you. You can listen to them, download the ones you like, and add them to your videos.

This feature is slowly becoming available for creators who already use Creator Music.

YouTube isn’t the only company using AI to make music. Other companies like Stability AI and Meta have tools that also generate music and sound from written prompts.

YouTube has also tested other AI music tools. For example, it has a music remixer for Shorts that lets you change the style of popular songs. Another tool called Dream Track, made with Google’s DeepMind (Lyria), lets you hum a tune and turn it into a song in the style of artists like T-Pain.
