Artificial Intelligence (AI) is pushing boundaries every day, making its mark in the tech world with decision-making and problem-solving skills. Now, AI is stepping into the creative world too. Many apps can create pictures and videos by analyzing online data, but questions arise about the originality of these creations. Often, AI models use machine learning to generate images, but the results might resemble existing online content.

Botto, a unique generative AI, is gaining fame for creating original artworks. Called a “decentralized autonomous artist,” Botto was developed by German artist and programmer Mario Klingemann and ElevenYellow, a software company. Launched in 2021, Botto uses machine learning and data from past artworks, but its creations stand out.

Since its launch, Botto’s digital art sales have brought in over $5 million, according to CNBC. Every week, Botto generates about 70,000 unique images. From these, 350 pieces are selected and showcased to BottoDAO, a group of 5,000 art lovers. Members vote for their favorite artwork, and the top choice is sold on the SuperRare NFT platform. Voting is free, making the process accessible to all.

Botto is changing how we think about creativity, proving AI can play a big role in the art world.
