Pony.ai, a company based in Guangzhou, is planning to start its robotaxi services in Hong Kong. It joins Baidu in the race to offer self-driving taxi services in the city as it works to expand worldwide.
Pony.ai, which is listed on Nasdaq, will first provide robotaxi services for airport staff at Hong Kong International Airport. Later, it plans to expand to other parts of the city. However, the company has not shared a specific launch date.
Baidu, a leading Chinese AI company, is also preparing to launch its driverless taxis in Hong Kong. The government has already approved Baidu to conduct trials in North Lantau.
