Around 41% of companies plan to reduce their workforce over the next five years due to the rise of AI automating many tasks, according to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025.
However, there is also a growing demand for workers with AI-related skills. About 70% of companies say they plan to hire employees who understand how to use these new AI tools, reports CNN Business.
The WEF highlights that advances in AI and renewable energy are changing the job market. While technical and specialist roles will be in higher demand, some jobs will decline. To adapt, many companies may focus on helping their current employees learn new skills.
There’s some positive news too. The WEF predicts that while 92 million jobs will disappear by 2030, 170 million new jobs will be created. This means a net increase of 78 million jobs if the prediction comes true.
