Amazon has introduced Alexa+, a new and improved version of its Alexa voice assistant, powered by advanced AI. This is the biggest upgrade since Alexa was first launched in 2014.
Alexa+ can understand user preferences, manage schedules, control smart home devices, and connect with Amazon services like Ring doorbells. It can also help with tasks like making dinner reservations and sending reminders.
The service will be free for Amazon Prime members, while non-Prime users will need to pay $19.99 per month. It will start rolling out in March.
Amazon developed Alexa+ using cutting-edge AI technology, including help from AI startup Anthropic. The new assistant can handle multiple commands in one conversation and even take actions without needing repeated instructions.
This upgrade comes as competitors like Apple and Google enhance their own AI-powered voice assistants. Amazon hopes Alexa+ will bring back user interest and strengthen its position in the AI market.
