Samsung Electronics and KDDI Research are working together to make 6G networks better by using AI technology. As 6G development grows, they aim to improve network performance with AI-powered multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems.
MIMO technology helps increase internet speed and expand coverage by using multiple antennas. Traditional MIMO works within a single network cell, but Distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) uses multiple cells to improve performance in weak signal areas.
Through this partnership, Samsung and KDDI will research AI-based solutions to make D-MIMO networks more efficient. Their goal is to boost internet speeds and increase network capacity.
Industry groups like the AI-RAN Alliance and Next G Alliance support Samsung’s research in AI-powered communication. In November 2024, Samsung hosted the Silicon Valley Future Wireless Summit to promote collaboration in 6G development. The company also released a 6G white paper sharing its vision for AI-driven and eco-friendly communication technologies.
