A Chinese AI company, Monica, has introduced a new artificial intelligence tool called Manus AI. The company describes it as a general AI agent capable of handling many complex tasks. Monica’s parent company, The Butterfly Effect, calls this AI a major breakthrough. After a video demonstrating its abilities went viral, some people started calling it “China’s second DeepSeek moment.”

What Can Manus AI Do?

Unlike other AI tools that focus on specific tasks, Manus AI is designed to help with a variety of activities, such as:

  • Planning trips
  • Analyzing stocks and investments
  • Conducting research
  • Shopping online

The AI runs in a secure, cloud-based system and can perform multiple tasks at the same time. However, the company has not shared details about the AI models used in Manus.

How Does Manus AI Compare to OpenAI’s DeepResearch?

According to Monica, Manus AI outperforms OpenAI’s DeepResearch in a test called GAIA (General AI Assistant) Benchmark. However, the AI is currently available only to selected testers, and the company has not announced when it will be released to the public.

Mixed Reactions from Early Testers

Some testers praise Manus AI, while others report issues.

  • Victor Mustar, Head of Product at Hugging Face, called it the “most impressive AI tool” he has used.
  • Alexander Doria, Co-Founder of AI startup Pleias, said he faced frequent errors while testing it.

While Manus AI has generated excitement, some experts remain cautious. The company has yet to provide full details, leaving some people questioning whether the AI is as powerful as claimed.
