Reddit’s New AI Search Uses Google to Find Answers Faster

Many people now use Reddit like a search engine. To help users find better answers, Reddit created a new tool called Reddit Answers. It’s an AI chatbot that helps you ask questions and get smart replies, along with helpful links from over 100,000 Reddit communities.

Powered by Google AI

Reddit teamed up with Google Cloud to make Reddit Answers more accurate. It uses Gemini AI on Vertex AI to search Reddit posts and give answers that are useful and based on real conversations from Reddit users.

Reddit has over 400 million active users every week, making it a great place to find real-life experiences and advice. Instead of scrolling through many posts, you can just ask Reddit Answers and get a quick, clear reply.

What Makes It Special

Reddit Answers doesn’t just show replies — it shows you the original post, the comments, and even whole communities related to your question. You can ask more questions or chat with the AI to learn more about the topic.

Reddit started using AI search in August last year. One concern with AI is giving wrong or fake answers. For example, Google’s AI once gave silly cooking tips like using glue or gasoline — and that was partly because of bad info from Reddit. That’s why making AI results more accurate is important.

So Far, It’s Working Well

Matt Snelham, a leader at Reddit, said users are seeing better search results now. More people are also visiting Reddit’s homepage thanks to Reddit Answers.

This tool aims to save time and make finding real, helpful answers easier than ever.
