WhatsApp has launched a new privacy feature to help protect your chats. It’s called Advanced Chat Privacy, and it’s now available for both one-on-one chats and group chats.

This tool helps stop others from:

  • Exporting your chats
  • Auto-downloading photos or videos from chats
  • Using your messages to train AI systems

This is useful for keeping your personal info safe, avoiding the spread of misinformation, and making sure your chats aren’t used without your permission.

In a blog post, WhatsApp explained that group chats are often used for sensitive topics, like health issues or community discussions. So this feature is especially helpful in groups where you might not know everyone well.

To turn this feature on:

  1. Open a chat or group.
  2. Tap the chat name at the top.
  3. Choose Advanced Chat Privacy.

WhatsApp says more privacy tools will be added to this section in the future.

Note: This feature may take a few days or weeks to appear for everyone. Make sure your WhatsApp app is updated to the latest version on iPhone or Android.

Recently, WhatsApp also added a feature that lets you use it as the default app for calls and texts on iPhones.
