Apple is getting ready to step into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) hardware with its latest offering, the new iPad Pro. The company is speeding up its upgrades to computer processors and plans to unveil the M4 chip later this year. This new chip will feature a special neural engine designed to handle advanced AI tasks.
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the M4 chip won’t just be for Mac computers; it’s also expected to be included in the new iPad Pro. This move positions the iPad Pro as Apple’s first device powered by AI, likely in response to the growing interest in AI across the tech industry.
Apple is planning to launch the new iPad Pro before its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. This timing allows the company to focus on its AI chip strategy without distractions. The M4 chip and the new iPad Pros are expected to take advantage of AI software and services that will come with iPadOS 18, set to release later this year.
The Let Loose event is scheduled for May 7 at 7:30 PM IST. You can watch the event live on Apple.com or through the Apple TV application.
While Apple is expected to incorporate AI into its upcoming iPhone 16 lineup with the A18 chip, it’s important to note that these new products aren’t solely focused on AI. This move could partly be a marketing strategy. However, there are reports of more advanced AI-focused hardware in development at Apple, including a tabletop iPad connected to a robotic arm and a home robot.
