Meta, the company behind Facebook, has introduced a new AI tool that can create videos up to 16 seconds long using text and photo inputs.
The AI model, called Movie Gen, was announced recently. On Meta’s website, you can see several sample videos made by Movie Gen.
For example, if you type “A woman DJ in a pink jacket spins records with a cheetah by her side” and upload her photo, the tool will create a video of her DJing with a cheetah next to her. It can also add sound or change images in existing videos. One example shows a flying lantern being changed into a soap bubble.
Meta says Movie Gen is still being developed and will likely be released next year after ensuring it can’t be misused. Other tech companies like OpenAI and Google are also working on similar AI video tools.
