Google has chosen two Pakistani startups to join its first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) Academy in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The program includes 23 companies from various countries, aiming to help these startups improve their AI technology and grow their businesses.

The AI Academy started this week with a three-day boot camp in Singapore. Pakistan’s AdalFi and Adlytic AI joined other startups from India, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. Participants will get over 170 hours of training from AI and Cloud experts, up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, and the chance to connect with AI innovators across the region.

Launched in August, the AI Academy aims to support the growth of AI startups in Pakistan and the wider Asia-Pacific. It encourages new partnerships and the sharing of ideas to boost AI development, making the region a “global hub” for AI innovation.

The two Pakistani startups are contributing to Pakistan’s AI field in unique ways. AdalFi is using AI to improve access to financial services with its credit scoring system, helping individuals and small businesses. Adlytic AI is turning CCTV cameras into smart tools for retailers, using visual data to help businesses grow.

Micheal Kim, Head of Google for Startups, expressed excitement about launching the AI Academy in the APAC region. He said that the 23 startups are using AI to tackle big challenges, such as improving financial services, healthcare, and other sectors.

The program will end in December, when all participating startups will present their improved AI solutions to investors and AI industry leaders.
