The UAE’s leading energy company, ADNOC, is set to use autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) in the energy industry for the first time. This project is a partnership with G42, Microsoft, and AIQ, as announced by ADNOC’s CEO, Sultan Al Jaber, at an industry event in Abu Dhabi.

ADNOC aims to use AI to improve operations, with systems that can work independently to analyze data and find ways to make processes better and faster. For example, these AI tools could shorten seismic survey times from months to just days and increase the accuracy of production forecasts by up to 90%.

The UAE, a major oil producer, is investing heavily in advanced technology, especially through the government-backed company G42. Microsoft recently invested $1.5 billion in G42 as part of the UAE’s goal to diversify its economy beyond oil. This focus on AI also includes developing language-based AI chatbots in Arabic and Hindi, similar to ChatGPT.

Emirati leaders believe that their commitment to AI will enhance the UAE’s role on the global stage, giving the country a strong economic position even after the demand for oil decreases.
