Residents in the UAE can now apply for life insurance without taking medical tests, thanks to a new AI-powered tool.
Sukoon Insurance has introduced a face-scanning feature that measures heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate through a video call. This AI tool makes the insurance process faster and easier by removing the need for traditional medical exams.
“At first, we have set limits on age and coverage for policies that do not require medical tests. As we move forward, we may expand these exemptions,” said Emmanuel Deschamps, executive vice president at Sukoon. The feature is currently available only for individual life insurance policies.
The UAE is actively using AI in various sectors, making it a leader in responsible AI adoption. A study by Trends Research and Advisory predicts that the UAE’s AI market will reach $46.33 billion by 2030, driven by the National AI Strategy 2031 and advanced innovation centers.
Sukoon covers the cost of medical tests, saving customers money and allowing them to complete applications from anywhere. Only certain applicants, based on age and coverage amount, need to take the test.
In 2024, Sukoon recorded Dh5.84 billion in gross written premiums. The company holds an A rating from Standard & Poor’s and an A2 rating from Moody’s.
Deschamps added that using AI in video calls reflects Sukoon’s digital approach, offering customers greater flexibility and convenience.
