Apple has postponed some of its new artificial intelligence (AI) features for Siri, making it harder to compete with Google and Amazon.
The company announced that the updates, introduced last year under “Apple Intelligence,” will take longer to release. These features were meant to make Siri smarter, more personalized, and better connected to iPhones and other devices.
Some of the delayed features include:
- On-screen awareness – Siri recognizing addresses in messages and saving them to contacts.
- App actions – Siri performing tasks inside apps, like finding specific photos.
Apple now expects to roll out these updates sometime next year, possibly in 2026. The company has not explained the reason for the delay.
Meanwhile, competitors are moving ahead. Google’s AI tool, Gemini, is now in Samsung’s latest smartphones. Amazon has also introduced a new version of Alexa with more natural conversations.
Experts say Apple needs to improve Siri quickly to stay competitive in the growing AI market. While Apple Intelligence is only available in English for now, more languages will be added soon. However, analysts believe the AI features have not yet boosted iPhone 16 sales.
In China, Apple is trying to catch up by working with local AI companies like Alibaba, but it faces strict regulations. Some experts say Apple rushed into AI without proper planning and is now struggling to keep up.
