Apple is reportedly working with Anthropic, the company behind Claude AI, to create new AI tools that help developers write code more easily. This news comes from a Bloomberg report and shows Apple’s growing interest in using AI for software development.
The plan is to add Claude’s AI features into Apple’s Xcode tool — the main app developers use to make iOS and Mac apps. With this AI, developers could soon ask the tool to write, edit, or test code for them. This type of AI tool is becoming popular and is sometimes called “vibe-coding.”
Claude is already a well-known AI tool among developers. It can do many things — like write HTML, CSS, debug code, or turn images into structured data. Experts say it’s becoming the go-to assistant for coding tasks. If Apple truly brings Claude into its system, it would make sense, especially since other big tech companies are doing similar things.
However, Apple hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet. It may wait until its big developer event (WWDC) next month to say more. Right now, it seems the new AI features will first be tested by Apple’s internal teams before possibly becoming public.
Apple is also working on its own tool called Swift Assist, but it’s been delayed. Some reports say Swift Assist ran into problems, like the AI giving incorrect answers (a common issue called “hallucination”). To fix this and improve Siri, Apple has brought in new leadership and top engineers.
This move to use outside tools like Claude may be part of Apple’s new strategy — using the best available technology, whether it’s built in-house or by partners, to stay competitive in AI.
Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei, believes AI will be writing most code within the next year. He warns that this could affect software developer jobs, as AI gets better at writing code that people actually want to use.
