Casio has started taking preorders for its new AI pet robot called Moflin. This robot is meant to be a comforting companion, not a traditional toy for playing.
Moflin costs 59,400 yen (about $398) and is similar to other AI pets like Sony’s Aibo. It looks like a mix between a hamster and a fluffy creature from Star Trek. The robot is designed for holding and cuddling, making it perfect for emotional support.
Casio says Moflin can learn to recognize its owner’s voice and touch, creating a special bond through different sounds and movements.
There is also a subscription service called Club Moflin for 6,600 yen per year. It offers discounts on repairs, cleaning, and fur replacements.
