OpenAI launched its Sora text-to-video tool in late 2024 and expanded it to Europe in February 2025. Now, OpenAI plans to bring Sora’s video creation feature to the ChatGPT app, according to a TechCrunch report.
Currently, Sora is only available on the web for paid users. When it comes to the ChatGPT app, the video-making feature may be limited compared to the full Sora experience. However, there is no exact date for its release.
OpenAI is facing tough competition from companies like xAI and DeepSeek. Adding Sora to ChatGPT could attract more users, especially since the feature is only available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers.
Sora is not the only new feature coming to ChatGPT. OpenAI recently introduced GPT-4.5, its most advanced AI model, and started rolling it out. The company has also expanded its Deep Research tool, which provides detailed, well-researched answers.
Another upcoming feature is Operator, a powerful AI tool that can complete tasks like searching the web and filling in details without user input. OpenAI has partnered with companies like Uber, Instacart, and DoorDash to enhance Operator’s capabilities. Currently, Operator is only available to ChatGPT Pro users.
