Kaiser Permanente is expanding its use of Abridge’s AI-powered medical note-taking app to support more than 24,000 doctors in its healthcare system. This rollout will cover 40 hospitals and over 600 medical offices across eight states and Washington, D.C.
The new technology aims to help doctors save time on administrative tasks, allowing them to focus more on patient care. The AI tool listens to patient-doctor conversations and generates clinical notes that can be easily added to the health record system after review.
Kaiser Permanente partnered with Abridge over the last year to test and fine-tune the system before introducing it widely. The goal is to improve efficiency and enhance the connection between patients and doctors.
Abridge, a startup that uses AI to improve medical documentation, has been growing quickly. Their technology is also being used in other major health systems like Mayo Clinic, UChicago Medicine, and Yale New Haven Health.
This expansion reflects Kaiser Permanente’s focus on using technology to make healthcare more efficient while keeping patient needs and privacy in mind.
