Schools across the United Arab Emirates will soon start teaching artificial intelligence (AI) to students as young as four years old. This is part of a big change in the national curriculum to prepare students for a future where technology and AI are very important.
The UAE government wants students to learn about AI early so they can succeed in a world where machines, automation, and smart systems are common. Instead of teaching AI as a separate subject, schools will include AI ideas and tools in different lessons—like math, digital skills, ethics, design, and critical thinking.
To make this happen, teachers across the country will need special training, and schools will also change how they teach and test students.
Some private schools, like GEMS Education, Taaleem, and Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai, have already started using AI in the classroom. Students are using AI-powered tools like chatbots, translators, and programs that help create media. Teachers are learning how to add AI into their lesson plans.
Baz Nijjar from GEMS Education said they are training selected teachers to use AI and educational technology in smart ways. GEMS is also working with Microsoft to create AI tools for classrooms and school leaders.
At Taaleem, a special AI team is guiding how AI is used in schools. Rebecca Gray, their education chief, said these steps will help teachers give students a better learning experience. AI is also helping students with tools like real-time subtitles and translations.
Each school may use AI a bit differently, but overall, this is a big step in how the UAE uses technology in education. The country is also investing a lot in AI for healthcare, transportation, and other fields to become a global leader in artificial intelligence.
