WAISL Launches AI-Powered Command Center for Airports

Rate this post

WAISL has introduced a new Airport Operations Command Center (APOC) to improve airport operations and enhance passenger experience. This system is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and uses advanced technology like:

  • Digital twins (virtual models of airport systems)
  • AI and machine learning (AI/ML)
  • Video and data analytics
  • Computer vision

How Does APOC Help?

The APOC will work as the central hub for monitoring and managing airport activities in real-time, from check-in to security and flight boarding. It aims to:

  • Provide real-time updates to passengers about flight schedules, wait times, gate changes, and baggage status.
  • Share important information with airport staff, airlines, and ground-handling teams to ensure smooth operations.

First Launch and Global Expansion

WAISL will first introduce the APOC at an Indian airport in the coming weeks and plans to expand it globally next year.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Predicts potential disruptions using Amazon SageMaker, a cloud-based machine learning tool.
  • Transfers live CCTV footage with Amazon MSK to ensure real-time monitoring across multiple data centers for uninterrupted service.
  • Handles peak travel loads with Amazon EKS, which allocates extra resources during busy periods like bad weather or flight delays.

Leadership Insights

WAISL CEO Rishi Mehta said the new command center will drive operational efficiency and help airports embrace digital transformation.
Pankaj Gupta from AWS added that the system is designed for high security, scalability, and reliability, making it easier for airports to manage large amounts of data.

The APOC is expected to make airport travel smoother and safer for passengers worldwide.
