WhatsApp is testing a new voice chat mode for Meta AI, which currently only supports text inputs. According to WABetainfo, the WhatsApp beta update (version 2.24.18.18) for Android on the Google Play Store includes this new feature. It allows users to talk to Meta AI using voice commands.
This feature will be available in future updates, letting users interact with Meta AI by speaking instead of typing. WhatsApp is also working on a feature that lets users choose a voice for Meta AI based on their preferences. Additionally, a shortcut might be introduced to activate the voice chat mode quickly by pressing the floating action button in the chat list.
The new voice chat mode will make it easier for users to interact without typing, and it can be turned on manually. Users can stop the voice chat by leaving the conversation or switching to text mode. A small icon in the status bar will show if Meta AI has stopped listening.
