YouTube is testing a new AI tool that allows musicians to remix songs into different styles or genres. This tool is currently available to select content creators.
The feature is based on YouTube’s Dream Track technology, which lets users create songs using text prompts and prerecorded vocals. Famous artists like Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Sia, T-Pain, and Charlie Puth have allowed their vocal styles to be used in this tool.
With this AI tool, creators can transform a song’s style by describing the desired genre or mood. For example, you could turn a pop song into a reggaeton track or remix classical music into heavy metal. The tool generates a 30-second sample based on the input song and your instructions.
Creators in the experimental group can use this feature to add unique soundtracks to their YouTube Shorts. The restyled songs will include clear credits for the original music and show that AI was used for the remix.
The remix tool uses Google’s Lyria language model, designed to create custom music based on text prompts, similar to how AI generates images or videos. Google ensures that all AI-created tracks are labeled clearly, but it hasn’t confirmed if its SynthID watermarking will be applied to these songs.
This new feature could make it easier for content creators to use customized music in their videos, adding a creative touch to their Shorts.
