Kerala’s Education Minister, V. Sivankutty, announced that the state will develop an AI system for schools this year. This is part of Kerala’s effort to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. The plan includes training 80,000 teachers and adding AI basics to school textbooks.

The Minister made this announcement at the State Camp of Little KITEs in Trivandrum. He also shared that 29,000 robotic kits have been given to schools by KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education). KITE, a government organization, is leading this project to modernize schools in Kerala.

KITE focuses on improving school infrastructure, technology-based learning, and online education. It also handles areas like satellite-based education, e-learning, and digital content development.

The Minister encouraged more companies to support AI and robotics education in schools. He mentioned that companies like IOCL, Cochin Shipyard, Qburst Technologies, and Canara Bank have funded school projects through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He also spoke about the risks of too much screen time for children and the spread of fake news. These topics have been added to school textbooks to help students stay informed.

The event featured expert talks and an industry visit for students. They explored technologies like drones, 3D printing, weather monitoring, media production, and animation.
