A new AI tool at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto has helped lower unexpected deaths by 26%, according to a Canadian study. The AI system, called Chartwatch, alerts hospital staff when a patient’s condition is worsening. In one case, it detected a serious infection in a patient, allowing quick treatment.
The tool monitors patient data, like heart rate and blood pressure, and predicts health issues every hour. This helps nurses and doctors act early, improving patient care. Chartwatch is one of the first AI tools used daily in Canadian hospitals.
