Police are testing a new AI tool that could help solve some of the country’s toughest unsolved cases. This tool, called Soze, can do 81 years’ worth of detective work in just 30 hours. It can search through video footage, financial records, social media, emails, and other documents all at once to find new leads that might have been missed before.

Avon and Somerset Police are trying out this technology. In one test, Soze reviewed evidence from 27 difficult cases in only 30 hours. It would have taken a human about 81 years to do the same work.

Gavin Stephens, the head of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, believes this tool could be a game-changer for solving old cases. He explained how useful it could be for going through large amounts of evidence in cold cases that seem impossible to solve.
