Amazon just announced its new Fire HD 8 tablet, which comes with AI-powered features. But the good news is that older tablets, as far back as 2018, will also get some AI tools.
These AI tools aren’t groundbreaking, but they include useful features like writing help and summarizing webpages when using the Silk browser. Amazon’s approach makes these features more accessible compared to some competitors.
The new AI tools, like Writing Assist (for proofreading, rewriting, etc.) and Wallpaper Creator, will be available on models like the Fire Max 11 (2023), Fire HD 10 (2023), and Fire HD 8 (2022, 2024) later this month. Webpage Summaries will also work on older models like the Fire HD 10 (2019, 2021) and Fire HD 8 (2018, 2020).
Unlike Apple, which limits AI features to newer devices, Amazon is making sure older tablets get these updates too. The new Fire HD 8 (2024) has improved RAM to handle these AI tasks smoothly.
