Google has updated Gmail to make searching for emails easier. Instead of just showing emails in order by date, Gmail will now use AI to find the most important ones first. It will look at factors like how recent the email is, which emails you click the most, and who you contact often.
Before this update, Gmail only showed emails in order based on keywords. Now, the most relevant emails will appear at the top, helping you find what you need faster.
Google is also adding a new switch so you can choose between “Most relevant” or “Most recent” emails when searching. If you prefer the old way, you can still see emails in order by date.
This update is rolling out worldwide for personal Gmail users on the web and the Gmail app for Android and iOS. Business users will get it later.
Google has been improving Gmail to compete with Apple’s Mail app. Recently, Gmail added a Gemini-powered feature to create calendar events from emails. It also introduced “summary cards,” which let users track packages, check in for flights, and mark bills as paid—all from their inbox.
