Apple has set the date of its next product launch for Sept. 9 — one day earlier than was widely expected, and perhaps a hint that not every rumor about the company’s plans is accurate. Invitations for the event, which will take place at 10 a.m. PT at the tech giant’s California headquarters, include the tagline “It’s Glowtime,” believed to be a reference to its new Siri interface. Along with the iPhone 16s, Apple is expected to unveil new Watches and AirPods during the high-stakes launch, which comes amid slumping iPhone sales and increased competition from Google’s AI-powered phones.
Expect larger screens in new Apple Watches and in iPhone 16s, which may also get a dedicated camera button. Meanwhile, mid-tier AirPods will be capable of noise cancelation.
Reportedly, Apple Intelligence features won’t be released until October.
In other Apple news, the company is preparing to welcome a new CFO. Kevan Parekh, the VP of financial planning and analysis, will step into the role “as part of a planned succession.” Outgoing CFO Luca Maestri will “continue to lead the Corporate Services teams.”
