Google Meet is introducing a new AI-powered feature called “Take Notes for Me,” which will automatically create meeting notes during video calls. This feature aims to make it easier to keep track of important points and improve productivity in virtual meetings.
The feature will be available to users with specific licenses, such as Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on. It won’t be available to everyone right away but will roll out to those with the required licenses.
According to Google’s blog, administrators can control who gets access to this feature through the Admin panel by going to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Gemini Settings. This allows IT admins to test the feature within certain teams or departments before it’s available to everyone in the organization.
Once the “Take Notes for Me” feature is turned on, Google Meet will automatically generate notes during the meeting. These notes will follow the organization’s retention policies and be saved in the meeting owner’s Google Drive.
After the meeting, both the organizer and the person who turned on the feature will receive an email summary of the notes. However, the meeting recap won’t be available immediately. Users will see a message saying, “Meet is taking notes and will produce a summary with action items and other meeting details,” while the notes are being prepared.
