Japan Approves JLK’s AI Tool for Faster Stroke Diagnosis

Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) has approved JLK’s AI tool, NCCT, for detecting brain hemorrhages and infarctions using non-contrast CT scans. This approval allows hospitals across Japan to use the technology.

NCCT helps doctors quickly analyze CT scans, improving stroke diagnosis and treatment decisions. As Japan’s aging population faces more stroke cases, the demand for AI-based diagnostics is expected to rise.

The AI tool detects different brain tissue densities, measures their volume, and enhances accuracy while reducing the workload on emergency teams. JLK has previously received PMDA approval for two other AI stroke solutions, JLK-CTP and JLK-PWI, and plans to offer them together as a diagnostic package.

With this latest approval, JLK is working on distribution deals and hospital partnerships in Japan while seeking further regulatory clearances to expand its AI stroke solutions.
