Modern AI image generators can create impressive images, but they rely on art made by thousands of human artists. Unfortunately, many of these artists are not paid for their work and are even losing their jobs because of these AI tools.
Two computer scientists from the University of Chicago, Ben Zhao and Heather Zheng, are working to change this. They have created two programs, Glaze and Nightshade, that help protect artists’ original work from being copied by AI tools like Midjourney and DALL-E. Their innovation could change how we all interact with AI systems.
